What is Entertaiment?

entertaiment

Entertaiment is a broad concept that covers a wide range of activities. According to Oliver and Barstsch, entertainment is understood objectively, involves communication between text and audience, requires external stimulus, offers pleasure, and occurs in a passive form. It can take place at any level of activity: from an individual who selects entertainment from a variety of pre-recorded products; to a party adapted to suit a specific number of people; or to a performance designed for thousands. Entertainment may be purely for amusement, but it can also serve more serious purposes, such as education, social change, or spiritual growth. Its familiar forms can cross different media and have demonstrated a seemingly unlimited potential for creative remix.
