SAN FRANCISCO — A new year means new laws that will change how we live, work and play. Some of the highlights:
AB 12: No more saving two months rent for a security deposit when you move into an apartment. This law limits landlords to one month’s rent as a security deposit.
SB 76: Cities will be allowed to create temporary Entertainment Zones that will allow existing restaurants and bars to sell alcohol in those areas during a street festival. This will help the economy by attracting visitors to local businesses.
Whenever a bill passes through a committee, the staff writes a written committee report that is attached to the final version of the legislation and gives an explanation of the purpose of each section.
