How to Write a Law Review Article

Law new refers to legal services that augment traditional practices rather than replace them. The idea is that this new path allows firms to reach new markets and clients, increase revenue and profitability and improve client satisfaction. This is especially important as traditional practice costs continue to rise. Using law new techniques can help to offset these rising costs.

Empirical research in the field of law has long recognized the salience of the “law on the books” (constitutions, statutes, judicial decisions), but it has also looked at how the law is implemented and experienced by those affected by it. Studies of legality or legal consciousness, behavioral law and economics research, scholarship on compliance theory, and studies of law agency organization are examples of this type of work.

The main goal of this type of research is to identify a set of law-related phenomena that deserve closer examination and possibly scholarly study. Then, a methodology can be devised for gathering and analyzing data relevant to those phenomena in order to test, develop or refine hypotheses. This type of research can be applied to all areas of the law, including civil rights, criminal justice, property, torts, public policy and family law.

A number of resources can be used to assist with finding law review articles. The most popular are Westlaw and LexisNexis, but a number of other legal periodicals indexes can be used as well, such as LegalTrac and HeinOnline. Westlaw and LexisNexis require passwords, but HeinOnline is freely available to all Loyola students with a valid ID.

Once you have found an article that you would like to write about, you should read it carefully. This will allow you to understand the author’s argument and perspective, as well as identify the key issues that are raised. This may then help you to formulate your own argument and point of view on the subject matter of your paper.

As you begin writing your article, be sure to keep the Bluebook’s 19th edition in mind. This will ensure that your work is cited properly, thereby avoiding charges of plagiarism. A bibliography should be included in your article, listing all of the sources that you used to gather information for your paper. The bibliography should also include the titles of all of your source materials, even those that you consulted only briefly.
